TMR Academy: Theory Tutor

Complements and reinforces music theory taught in lessons, serving beginners through advanced-level music students in an intimate setting of no more than 4 students at a time. Competencies addressed (by level):
BEGINNER:
1st year of music theory (up to level 2)
-staff (lines/spaces), barlines, clef
-dynamics, articulation, tempo, other markings (repeat sign)
-time signature
-rhythmic values up to the 8th (16th?) note/rest
-note reading on treble/bass clef
-intervals: diatonic; unison to octave
-half-step v. whole-step (m2 v. M2)
-key signature
INTERMEDIATE:
2nd year of music theory (3rd-4th year for younger student):
-I-IV-V7
-major pentascale & major scale construction
-key signatures (including relative minor)
-major v. minor triads
-phrases & form (DC, DS, binary, etc.)
-intro to chromatic intervals (m or M 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 6th, 7th)
-intro to chord-reading (e.g. fakebook format)
ADVANCED:
3rd year of music theory (5th year and beyond for younger student):
-all key signatures
-Greek/church modes & their distinctives
-more chromatic intervals (+4/dim5/tritone, alt. spellings e.g. dim3rd)
-aug and dim triads
-4-note chords: Mm[dom]/M/m/(half-)dim7ths
-extended harmony: 9th/11th/13th chords
-dominant function, tonicization, and borrowed harmonies
-chord reading for lead sheets and fakebooks
-Roman numeral harmonic analysis
