Whether you are shopping, learning, renting or performing, The Music Room promises a personalized experience you won’t get at any big box retailer. Our friendly, knowledgeable floor staff can help you find just what you need including guitars and amps, folk instruments, rental instruments, music accessories, sheet music and gifts. Every guitar on our showroom floor is set up, in-tune and ready to play.
Nearly 500 students and more than 20 staff members call The Music Room their musical home. Students come here to nurture their musical talent, but they walk away with more— improved communication skills, creativity, cooperation and confidence.
An accomplished teacher and musician herself, co-founder Carol Cook understands the qualities that make for a good instructor. The result is a hand-picked staff of knowledgeable, experienced, professional teachers. They not only play well, they communicate well, motivating and inspiring each student.
About the Owner
Carol Cook finds the joy of her work comes from enhancing lives –whether it is through the purchase of an instrument or music lessons. Carol launched The Music Room in 1994 with John Giovannoni after several years of teaching music, band, and chorus in schools and working as a private instructor.
“The rewards gained by studying music will last a lifetime,” said Cook. “I always try to communicate to our customers that while studying music can be “fun,” it is much more than a hobby. You are developing a skill that requires hard work, dedication and commitment to truly reap the rewards.“
She is grateful for the loyalty of their customers, and support from vendors over the years. Moving to its current location in 2005 was a major milestone for The Music Room. With 10,000 square feet of retail, studio and performance space, there was room to grow the business and convert The Music Room into the hub it has become. “It’s a happy place to be,” said Cook.
Carol took sole responsibility for managing the business in 2013, when Giovannoni died after a long illness. She still pursues her own musical journey, studying with her own teachers in Chicago and performing regularly.
